About the Event
Canning was once a way of life. Every household would preserve the harvest by bottling up their garden in the cooler months of fall. We will be working with everyone’s favorite: tomatoes. Whole, sauce, salsa, and ketchup. And we will send you home with a couple of jars from the fruits of our labor.
The basics will be covered; water bath, steam canning, pressure canning, the dos and don’ts and just having fun in the kitchen.
Having beautifully lined shelves in your pantry with canned preserves, vegetables, fruit, and sauces is something that never gets old.
Yes, you can go to the grocery store and fill your cart up with cans but it does not taste as good, definitely not as healthy. You can't even see what's in there without a can opener. Nowhere near the satisfaction of knowing you did it yourself and seeing all those sparkling glass jars on the shelves. It really is just not the same. Come join us and learn how to take advantage of the local bounty or your own homegrown goods.
