Musquee de Provence
An historic cheese pumpkin from the South of France, available in the U.S. as early as 1895 from Vaughan's Seed Store in Chicago. Gorgeous squashes, up to 20 pounds in weight, look like wheels of cheese, and ripen from green to burnt sienna. Deep orange flesh is dense and of superb table quality. Very long shelf life.
Dickinson
Large, oblong fruits with smooth buff-tan rind, often 10–40 lbs and up to about 18″ long. Thick, deep orange flesh that is dense, sweet, and richly flavored. The classic processing pumpkin used for canned pumpkin purée, prized for its texture and excellent storage. A substantial heirloom moschata for pies, baking, and cooking.
